Here is the inspiring story of our Contest Winner Munira Bakri, Munira Says, “ The Beauty of a person should be judged by the HEART, not with their Appearance”. I am talking about the ’80s when I was just 7 years old, I was recognized with a Squint disability. I used to always complain to God, “Why was I chosen for this disability”, and remain sad. Also, some people used to make fun of me. One day with a heavy heart & tears in my eyes I went to my dad narrating all the stories that happen to me. He explained to me BE STRONG, FOCUS ON YOUR LIFE, AND REMEMBER NEVER to GIVE UP & LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST. He even told me If he can work well without some fingers ( As he doesn't have a few fingers of both hands which he lost in an accident) then why can't you. And from that day, I never give up or felt upset. Life turned out, things changed years later When the person who used to teased me bowed with respect as his son is my student. Yes, Today I’m a successful teacher, a wife, a mother, and a Strong woman despite facing a lot of challenges. Also, I had an eye operation and live a happy life. Despite the odds, she did it. From her early days, she used to visit old age homes and spent time with elderly people. The willingness to listen, the patience to understand, the strength to support, the heart to care & just to be there; that is the beauty of my Sister Rujuta and I wish to be like her someday. The main problem that the elderly face is they miss the true thing of happiness and miss their Family. For this reason, she loves visiting the homes of the elderly and spending her time with them to make sure someone's in their thoughts. The happiness that lights up on their faces is just priceless. She always visits the old age homes with homemade food, clothes, and gifts and spends the entire day with them. They sing songs, play games, eat lunch and have a great time. Being a part of their life gives her the true essence of Quality of Thought & Stillness of Being as she feels privileged to bring cheer and sparkle to their lives. She had always wanted to do something like this, and she feels really happy that by doing this she got the opportunity to fulfill her dream. Visiting old-age homes and sharing happiness with the elderly inmates and getting their blessings is the best gift one can get. Sometimes giving yourself a gift comes about when you address it to someone else. She feels she has achieved her dream of bringing smiles to those cute wrinkled faces. Despite the odds, she did it. Rujuta Jadhav our #Inspiringwomen Contest Winner shares the Inspiring Story of her Sister Poonam, She says, "Poonam my sister is a kind-hearted lady. She has been feeding stray animals in Mumbai for the past 10 years and has never missed a single day. She provides first aid to the stray animals who get injured, shows love to as many Homeless & Stray Animals as possible. She is very emotionally driven and will not stop short of achieving anything less than her dreams. The journey to feed and take care of street animals was not so easy. She faced a lot of challenges when she was used to this social work. She is looked down upon and has often been disrespected. Things are more difficult for women like her because there are several stereotypes attached to a single woman roaming in the streets. Despite Challenges, She didn’t stop feeding animals as she is dedicated her life to the well-being of the ignored stray animals. And she dreams of a city with a lot of people taking care of street animals just like her. She is such a true inspiration for me and many." Despite the odds, she did it.
